In Memory of Sarah Anderson

Thu, 11/12/2009 - 10:49am

The Auburn University Bands lost one of its finest members on Tuesday, November 10th, when Sarah Anderson tragically lost her life in an automobile accident on Interstate 85.  Sarah was a piccolo player in the Auburn University Marching Band and Symphonic Band.

"It’s a tragic loss, particularly when she was so young and full of vitality. Sarah Anderson was the epitome of the Auburn Band student–dedicated, hardworking, self-motivated. She always maintained a positive attitude no matter what the situation. Smiles always brightened her face, just as she brightened the lives of everyone around her. She will be greatly missed. Our prayers are with the family at this time."
-Auburn Band Staff

The Auburn Bands also ask for your prayers for Sarah’s family at this difficult time.  We also extend our prayers to Sara Clayton, another piccolo player who was injured in the accident, and we wish her a speedy recovery.

Sarah’s funeral will be held on Monday, November 16th at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Loxley in Loxley, AL (Google Map). The address for the condolence letter for Sarah D. Anderson is as follows:

Mr. And Mrs. David D. Anderson
P. O. Box 2089
Robertsdale, AL 36567

The mother’s name is Linda.

The Auburn Bands will be accepting donations through Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Service Fraternity, of which Sarah was an active member.  A memorial scholarship in her name is being currently planned.

We have some photos of Sarah after the break, a video by WTVM Channel 9 in Columbus, and an image you can use as your Facebook profile picture in her memory.
